There has been widespread publicity over Wayne Rooney’s hair transplant recently all over the world and in
the press. He originally confirmed the news on Twitter to all his followers that he had gone through with
the process, and posted photos of himself proudly showing off his new hair soon afterwards. He even
joked about how he was going to grow his hair into a full curly mop! But his hair worries still don’t seem
to be over.

It now appears that his new style isn’t growing after the transplant and is not doing the job he thought it
would. He is currently away with the Manchester United squad in the United States on a pre-season
tour, but current photo’s of the star have shown him bemused with his treatment.Since having the transplant,
it now shows that Rooney has actually lost hair and not showing sign of any growth. Some experts have stated
that this is normal, and that losing hair is part of the healing process of the transplant.

Rooney will be keeping his fingers crossed and hoping these claims are the truth, after getting a ribbing from
his team mates over the photos on Twitter. The actual transplant involves hair being transplanted from the
donor areas, mostly from the back of the head, and they are then transferred to the affected areas of the head.  Follicles are then picked from the donor area and the affected hair area is punctured, so then the hair is made to look like a normal hair pattern.

The Manchester United striker was seen out and about in Boston signing autographs, and many fans did not notice any difference in Rooney’s appearance, but he still seems delighted with the results. His wife Coleen also seems very happy with the transplant and for her husband, after she tweeted that she didn’t insist on him getting the treatment done, and thinks it will all turn out great for her husband. It is being reported that the transplant cost around thiry thousand pounds at a London clinic.

According to the clinic, the treatment that was done is a ‘major advance over older hair transplantation procedures that used larger grafts’ and often showed an ‘unnatural look’. The new hair may actually take upto nine months to fully grow. Many Premier League football fans will be on the lookout for Wayne’s new hair do this season, and if it makes any difference on his performances, especially heading the ball! A lot of football fans have given the thumbs up to the transplant, while may have always seemed to find a funny side to Wayne Rooney’s appearance and looks.

So all eyes will be on Wayne Rooney for the up and coming months to see if this expensive procedure will actually
pay off for him. The paparazzi will surely have a field day if nothing comes about from the treatment with many
football fans alike, who will be ready to make their derogatory remarks loud and clear at Premier League games if
it all fails. We shall wait and see with baited breath!
